Charles Mee’s Orestes 2.0 is a contemporary adaptation of Euripides’ Oresetes.

This set design centers around the once gated front yard of an elegant West Palm Beach mansion that has been abandoned due to a war. The home is now being utilized as a makeshift hospital post. It is deliberate that the home appears to be falling apart. The beds and chairs are to appear as though they were taken from the home to be used as hospital beds and furniture.

The overall design is meant to evoke feelings that parallel some of the major themes of the play: legacy, fear and loyalty.

The West Palm Beach home set was once a peaceful, serene place that asks the question: Can it ever be what it once was?
